Art Portfolio Diary- Trip to London Pre raphaelites Exhibition Tate Britain

Art Portfolio Diary- Trip to London Pre Raphaelites Exhibition Tate Britain -PART A - Take Part,

What: Pre Raphaelites exhibition

Where: Tate Britain- London- England
When: Saturday 1st if December
Why: For learning about the Pre raphaelite art and inspiration.

" Ophelia"
Ophelia is a painting by British artist Sir John Everett Millais

REVIEW of my Day:

It was awesome because the Pre raphaelites were amazingly realistic in their art also they went completely off what people thought was art in those days. Also the anatomy was amazing it made me want to draw humans more. The whole experience was extremely inspiring and I plan to study them more.

My favourite artist was William Holman Hunt and my favourite piece was by him and called "The Scapegoat". It had a religious meaning to it, in one culture people used to send out one goat with all the sins of the village into a bleak place where it would die. Before they sent it out they would tie a piece of red cloth to its head so it would turn white in the sun which would mean the sins of the village were forgiven. I loved this painting because of its bleak and hopeless feeling and it was one if the only paintings which had an animal as its main subject.

One of my other favourites was a series of three paintings by Edward Burns Jones they were called "The Rock of Doom", " The Doom Fulfilled" and "The Baleful Head".
These paintings were telling the story of Perseus ,a Greek hero , who saved andromeda ,a Greek princess , from a sea monster. I haven't read that story but I'd like too.

I loved these paintings because I love Greek mythology and I've been listening to " Percy Jackson : the lighting thief" and Perseus is Percy's full name the Greek Perseus is his namesake so I was interested to see what the Greek Perseus had done. Also in "The Doom Fulfilled" you got to see Perseus fighting the sea monster which was awesome because I love dragons and sea serpents. The serpent in the painting

                                                                     The Rock of Doom

                                                                     The Doom Fulfilled

The Baleful Head

My other favourite is "The Woodsmans's Daughter" by John Everett Milais.
This painting is funny and cute it has a nervous air. The interactions between the boy and girl remind me of some role plays I did with some of my online friends. I also like the subject matter and where tits set because I love the forest and nature. The whole thing captivates the emotion nd is very well done with the father of the little girl chopping some shrubs behind them.

Why do I think the artist painted this ?

The woodsmans daughter: For me the message here is " Watch out for your crushes father".]

Art Portfolio Diary British museum London - Mesopotamia Gallery

Art Portfolio Diary - Trip to the British museum London - Mesopotamia Gallery

What: Mesopotamian gallery.

Where: Mesopotamian gallery-British museum-London-England

When:4th of December 2012

REVIEW Of My Day
I was studying Mesopotamia and wondered what I could learn from the British museum. We went to the Museum to study up on the area because we read a book called "Treasure of the Tigris"set in Mesopotamia and wondered if we could find out anything else about the place.

What I liked/found interesting:
 ---------------------------------------------
It was interesting to get an overall view on the culture and art.

What I learned:
----------------------

I liked the way they stylised their anatomy like the Egyptians did.

My Fave's and how  I applied what inspired me today
------------------------------------------------------------------------
My favourites were the copper lions that hung in a case near the entrance of the gallery.
There were two adults and two cubs.

The cubs faces were amazing because they looked lifelike without looking overly detailed and the eyes had no pupils which gave them a hopeless feeling, because of this i based a character of the cubs and named it Crackle. I still need to finalise the design though.

Animation Experiments - Part A Arts Award

Animation Experiments - Part A Arts Award

Walk Cycle Animation Experiments

  •  I am trying to learn and improve my skills about animating walk cycles in humanoid creatures
  • I experimented with animal walk cycles without much reference for fun and seeing if I could do it. I was fairly pleased with it. But the cat I was animating looked like it was limping. So I found a blog that had the frames of a walk cycle animation for two and four legged animals, which I found very helpful for reference.

  • Here is the link to the blog.

I used this picture while animating (For the walk cycle I did I used the top one called "Walk")

Walk Cycle Animation Lesson Sheet

This is my finished animation (Click picture below)

Echo Walk Cycle by ~Echo-Art-Portfolio on deviantART

  • I like the lesson sheet because it shows me all the frames instead of just a few which does make it easier to make the animation smoother and less jumpy.
  • I also like that it shows more than one variation of walking/skipping/jumping sequences which I am hoping to try out next.

How to Write- Part A Take Part Art Awards Bronze

How to Write - Part A Take Part Art Awards Bronze

I watched a program on how to write creative writing, some famous writers and poets including Caroline Bird, Philip Pullman and Michael Morpurgo show their writers secrets .
My personal favourite of these was Caroline Bird, she had this randomness and spontaneous-ness about her. And her method of writing poetry was very effective to me. Also extremly enjoyable.

Caroline Bird reading aloud.
She to me is one of those people you'd want to have a ten hour talk with.

Another one of the writers mentioned in the video was Philip Pullman author of "The Golden Compass" and "His Dark Materials". I myself have only watched the movie but i would like to read the books because often the books are different to the movies. .
He said that writing fiction books (As he does) is lazy because he can't be bothered to do the research for real life themed books. I honestly found this quite amusing.

Philip Pullman during the video read half a page of "His Dark Materials"I honestly never imagened he looked like this, mind you i had no idea what he looked like. I really loved the reading and the story and wanted to find out what had happened before the page he started reading. He said writing what you want not what the last best seller was all about would be quite beneficial if you were planning on selling because that's what will come most true to you.

Michael Morpurgo the author of "Private Peaceful" and "The War Horse" (I'm wanting to watch "The War horse" because of this video)had some awesome advice and he was probably the one i found most beneficial to my own writing.
He said that you should throw out all your ideas not regard for spelling just get to idea down.

Michael Morpurgo explaining his way of writing. Before i watched this video i had never heard of this man and only briefly of his book "The War Horse", but now i really want to read or watch it now. I'm not so sure about Private Peaceful though, I don't really like stories about the first or second world war.
